Sandpark 10% Time

We have an internal 10% time initiative called Sandpark that is used for hacking, researching and playing with technology and things that interests us but are't necessarily related to anything we are working on.

Everyone at Harmonypark can use their Sandpark 10% time to learn new skills, make apps, services, APIs, algorithms Arduino projects and whatever takes a their fancy.

The idea is that you never know when a new skill might come in handy and playing with what interests us keeps us happy.

Grok Institute

Grok Institute is a new-format popup Digital Art Institute. All Digital, Art, Light, Video and Music content is curated by Andrew McPhee and Jean-Robert Saintil.

There is a brilliant quote by someone we can't remember that went something like "it would be easier to put all of the world's art onto the internet than get one piece of internet art into a gallery offline". We aim to change that.

Grok Institute involves new and innovative digital art work, talks and lectures, and an art fuelled clubnight.

Grok Institute is giving the enchantment of digital art, music and technology a much needed platform where the digitally inclined can connect, inspire and collaborate offline.

Grok Institute takes place throughout the year within London, utilising old, new and forgotten spaces and repurposing them into temporary popup galleries, lecture rooms and club venues.

Grok Institute will also expand into other global hubs in the future. We received an amazing offer to do one in Moscow, but it turned out it was all to shill for a tobacco company, so we turned it down.

BBC Blast Studio

In creative collaboration with Fallon/Harmonypark/Nanika/Hothouse, we created a new interactive studio space for the BBC that enabled young people to engage with and make collaborative art inside of Felix Topolski’s original studio within London’s Southbank Centre.

The robotic art-making devices were user-controlled via an internet browser and viewed globally using realtime online video streaming.

This project was live 24/7 for a 30 day period and created a series of web-mediated collaborative artworks that brought playful and experimental internet/digital into the public domain.
